This is a unique opportunity to see what happens behind the scenes in one of Australia’s most critical supply chains. Covering 17,500m2, the Melbourne Processing Centre (MPC) is the largest blood processing and testing facility in the Southern Hemisphere and accounts for almost half of the national blood supply. Participants will have the opportunity to see first-hand laboratories where life-saving blood and plasma donations are processed and tested, the distribution area that supplies blood products to south-east Australia and the primary workspace for Melbourne-based support teams.

This ASCLA thought leadership event brings together four panellists from Australian manufacturing and IT solutions providers for a candid, jargon-free discussion about what works.

The panel covers four areas that commonly derail AI initiatives: AI awareness and data challenges, where information sits trapped across disconnected applications; trust, security and uptake, including hallucination risk, data privacy and workforce resistance; practical AI tools already in use for writing, meetings and customer support; and data risks and governance, covering ownership, accountability and review cadence.

Attendees will leave with a clearer view of where AI genuinely pays off, how to map risk tiers before shortlisting solutions, and what to ask before committing budget. Networking with industry practitioners follows, with light refreshments provided.

	Bahman Khalaj - Supply Chain Manager, ANCA Bahman is Global Supply Chain Manager at ANCA, a global high-tech manufacturing company, leading Procurement, Planning, Logistics and Warehousing. He has delivered a number of AI-enabled projects across different areas of the supply chain, with a strong focus on solving real-world business problems. His approach is deliberately practical: using AI to improve accuracy, cut manual effort, and move supply chains beyond automation towards intelligent, data-driven decision-making.
	Sheran Hettiarachchi - Senior Product Manager, Pronto Software Limited Sheran is a Senior Product Manager at Pronto Software Limited, where he leads the product roadmap for artificial intelligence and business intelligence capabilities within the Pronto Xi ERP platform. He brings over two decades of experience in the ERP sector, having previously worked as an Application Engineer at ATS Global and as a Software Engineer at Dilmah. His current role spans product lifecycle management and the integration of AI and analytics across Pronto Xi.
	Roydon D’Souza - Senior Engineer, Sutton Tools Roydon D'Souza is a Senior Engineer at Sutton Tools, specialising in automation, reliability engineering, lean manufacturing and Industry 4.0. Roy has played a key role in the company's digital transformation, integrating AI, advanced manufacturing technologies and data-driven decision-making into factory operations. His focus is practical application: using technology to improve productivity, precision and long-term competitiveness.

Serena Moreno
Serena is an industry leader with 20+ years’ experience spanning AI, engineering, technology, supply chain and the circular economy. In his current role, he is responsible for contract management, customer engagement, operational performance, and the delivery of safe and reliable transport solutions for major resource industry customers across Western Australia.

Juliane Muenster is a Chartered Procurement and Supply Professional (MCIPS) with over 12 years of experience leading strategic procurement and global supply chain performance within the electronics sector, including Defence and Space programmes operating under AS9100 standards.
Operating at the intersection of commercial strategy, supply chain resilience and regulatory governance, designing procurement frameworks that deliver operational performance while meeting the rigorous compliance, traceability and quality requirements of electronics and aerospace and defence environments.
Juliane’s core expertise includes strategic sourcing, supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, risk management, cost optimisation, governance, compliance, and performance management. Leading end-to-end global sourcing across Australia, the US and Europe, overseeing supplier qualification, audit readiness, counterfeit prevention and lifecycle traceability within AS9100-aligned systems.
As a procurement leader, she aligns cross-functional stakeholders across engineering, quality and operations, bringing structured decision-making, financial discipline and strong commercial oversight to complex programmes. Positioning procurement as a strategic enabler of innovation, operational excellence and sustainable growth.

Libby Day – CEO, Defence Teaming Centre (DTC)
Libby is the Chief Executive Officer of the Defence Teaming Centre, where she leads national efforts to strengthen Australia’s defence industry. With a strong background in strategic development, regulatory compliance and cross-sector collaboration, initially developed in the pharmaceutical and Med Tech sector, Libby works at the intersection of defence, advanced manufacturing and innovation. She is widely recognised for her ability to help businesses navigate complex regulatory requirements and for her leadership in advancing sovereign defence capabilities.
She is a member of the South Australian Defence and Space Defence and Space Technologies Industry Skills Council, and a governor on the South Australian AmCham Council. She recently served as the Deputy Chair of the Australian Cyber Collaboration Centre.
Libby has a Bachelor of Arts from UniSA, a Grad Diploma in Public Affairs from the University of Sydney and she studied an Executive Master of Science at the London School of Economics.

Jeremy Satchell – Head of Industry Capability, BAE Systems Australia
Jeremy Satchell has over 20 years’ experience across Australia’s defence ecosystem, spanning both military service and senior industry leadership roles.
During his service in the Australian Army, Jeremy held a range of operational, leadership and strategic planning appointments, including air and missile defence roles. These experiences underpin his understanding of capability delivery, workforce development, and the importance of resilient sovereign systems in support of national security.
In industry, Jeremy has worked as a supply chain consultant within State Government and now leads BAE Systems Australia’s Industry Capability function. In this role, he is responsible for strengthening Australian manufacturing and SME participation across BAE’s global supply chains, with a focus on supplier uplift, capability development, and long term competitiveness. His work directly supports economic growth, skills development and the sustainability of Australia’s industrial base.
Jeremy is a strong advocate for sovereign industrial capability and actively engages with defence and manufacturing stakeholders domestically and internationally.
He continues to serve as an Army Reservist with the 16th Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery, and is a committed supporter of veteran affairs. Outside of formalities, Jeremy is an avid sports fan and married with two teenage children.

David Royle – Supply Chain Manager, Industry Capability Network (ICN)
David is the Acting Head of Industry Capability Network South Australia (ICN SA) within the South Australian Department of State Development and a Supply Chain Manager with extensive experience across the defence, mining, oil and gas, energy, construction, and manufacturing sectors. With over 20 years of experience in construction and manufacturing, he has developed a strong understanding of complex supply chains, Australian Industry Participation (AIP), and Local Industry Participation (LIP). David works closely with major projects, government, and industry to identify capability, strengthen supplier networks, and create local and global supply chain opportunities that deliver lasting economic and industry development outcomes.

Join the Mobiledock team for an egg and bacon breakfast roll at the Port of Melbourne, alongside customers, carriers and suppliers from across the network. Come for the food, stay for a candid chat about what makes freight scheduling easier — or harder — day to day.

For years, scheduling improvements have mostly focused on the customer side of the booking screen. This morning we widen the lens: getting freight in and out on time depends just as much on the carriers and suppliers living with our system every day as it does on the site running the calendar.

We want to hear directly from you.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This morning is for anyone whose day is shaped by a dock booking — because so much of what makes freight scheduling work (or not) is created upstream and downstream of the site itself.
