NO SECOND RUN: Sequencing an order management transformation when stock doesn't come back

Should retailers hold inventory in a shopper’s cart? While it improves the customer experience for one buyer, it can reduce opportunities for everyone else when stock is scarce. In this webinar, Camilla’s Head of Technology explores the challenges of inventory reservation and the design decisions that drive fair, effective outcomes.

Date:  Wednesday, 28 October 2026
Time:  10.00am - 10.45am (AEST)
Venue:  Online

Cost:  No charge

ABOUT THIS EVENT

Camilla sells limited-edition prints in short runs that are never repeated. There is no replenishment and stock depth is shallow, so the standard omnichannel playbook doesn't survive contact: a cart-level stock hold that looks customer-friendly at scale starves other legitimate buyers, and any lag in the inventory picture is a window to sell something irreplaceable.

That constraint dictated the delivery plan. Rather than a cutover, Camilla sequenced its order management replatform around one first outcome — an accurate, available-to-promise picture across web, store and order capture — and named the first release 0.1 rather than Phase 1.

Michael Davis, Head of Technology at Camilla, and Adam Kelly, VP Customer Experience at Infios, cover both halves: what scarce inventory changes about order management design, and how to sequence a live program so it can't strand you halfway.

For technology and operations executives funding transformation while the business keeps trading.
