The Supply Chain and Logistics Association (SCLAA) in partnership with RMIT University’s School of Business IT & Logistics is proud to present “To Be Disrupted”

Have you heard of a Hackathon? Well, get ready for the non-coding equivalent – The Ideathon.

Combining students, logisticians, professionals, developers, and anyone who likes to challenge the status quo… Get ready to disrupt!

Problem Statements
The event will challenge teams to develop and present solutions to the following two problem statements:

Innovation Challenge A – Waste and Reverse Logistics: Every year Australia sends 500,000 tonnes of recycling waste to China! With China’s recent ban on mixed recycling imports, Australia is presented an immediate issue to be dealt with nationally, and at the same time, presents a huge opportunity to dramatically develop the way Victoria manages the disposal and reverse logistics supply chain.

Innovation Challenge B – Last Mile Delivery: Consumers have never been more demanding on businesses. They want everything cheaper, faster and personalised. This puts incredible strain on a supply chain, in particular, the logistics of the delivery. Innovating the “last mile” is the key to unlocking value in this area. It’s never been more important for businesses to find innovative solutions to this part of supply chain.

  1. Teams will work together under the guidance of expert facilitators to see which ideas are most disruptive, feasible and viable!
  2. Provided with thought-provoking problem statements, dynamic teams will collaborate to innovate futuristic solutions that can be implemented within a 5 to 10-year horizon!
  3. Teams will pitch their solutions at the end of the day to the rest of the Ideathon cohort and our esteemed panel of judges and industry experts.
  4. Prizes will be awarded for the most innovative solutions as scored by our judging panel!

How to enter
To enter is easy – simply register and pay for your ticket [$10 if you're a student, $20 if you're a professional] and show up on the day! We will be facilitating team formation on the day, ensuring all teams are equal. The cutoff for entry is midnight, 15th June.

Remember there is no criteria to enter – the only thing we ask is a commitment from you to challenge the status quo!
